About us
Welcome to the Mapache (Racoon in Spanish) Family! It is our goal to make you feel at home and show you the real holbox. At Mapache we make no difference between guests, staff or management, we invite you to be part of our small family, make new friends, mingle with the locals and see only the best kept secrets of our beautiful island. We can help you to rent a bike and will give you recommendations where to spot flamingos, the bioluminescence or the best beaches. We have daily activtities and we can also organize boat tours for you to see the famous whale sharks or the three islands within the nature reserve of Yum Balam. We offer different types of accommodation for every kind of traveller: From shared dorms to Glamping tents and Tipis to ensuite private rooms with AC, we have what you need! There is wifi throughout the hostel and our showers are always hot and have amazing pressure. There is a fully equipped communal kitchen, a book exchange, laundry service, towels for rent, a rooftop lounge and an amazing garden for you to relax in a hammock. If you are lucky you might even spot the raccoons in the palm trees at night. Travelling with your little ones or furry friends? No problem, children and pets are more than welcome with us!
